Web2Markdown / Built by GDK Digital

Capture web pages.
Edit real files.
Export finished documents.

Turn useful web content into files you can actually work with. A Chrome capture extension and a local desktop editor bring your sources, writing, and finished exports into one practical workflow.

  • No product account required
  • Ordinary local files
  • Open-source release planned

Two tools. Your choice.

A better handoff, without a closed file format.

Use the extension to collect material, the desktop app to write and edit, or both together. Captures stay on disk as readable files. You do not need the desktop app to use captured Markdown in another editor.

Capture the parts worth keeping

Save a page or selected passage as Markdown with source metadata. Preview before saving, keep downloaded images alongside the text, or collect a bounded site tree.

Choose a capture mode

Move from collection to creation

Open captures in the desktop Capture Inbox. Edit with source and preview, manage multiple tabs and split editor groups, then export without replacing your original.

Meet the desktop workflow

Useful beyond the first capture.

The editor is a working environment for documents, not just a place to view a download.

Write with context

Headings, lists, links, images, tables, search, an outline, and source-aware preview editing keep structure close to your writing.

Start with a useful shape

Use governed starters and local snippets for Markdown documents, agent instruction files, and configuration text. Keep dotenv names in the .env family.

Check before changing

Format-aware Document Check and preview-first folder replacement help you inspect findings and proposed changes. Review remains part of the workflow.

Finish in the right format

Keep Markdown for reuse. Export readable plain text, PDF, or Word-compatible DOCX, with repeatable export options for recurring work.

Collect sitemap evidence

Save sitemap inventories without opening every listed page. Review local sitemap files and optional rendered-page evidence in the editor.

Keep advanced tools optional

Site Profiles and opt-in agent capture support repeatable collection. Neither an agent connection nor a cloud account is required for normal use.

Built around work you already do.

Research and writing

Keep readable source material and its origin together. Turn saved material into briefs, notes, and finished documents.

Developer documentation

Edit Markdown, structured text, and reusable instruction files with familiar source control and ordinary folders.

Website review

Collect sitemap URLs and rendered-page facts for your analysis. Evidence captures are not search-ranking, indexing, or performance verdicts.

Local files. Clear boundaries.

The software processes captures and documents locally. Fetching pages and images still contacts their source websites, and opening support or release links opens an external website. Choose what you capture and where you save it.

Web2Markdown brings browser capture and local document work together. We are preparing a public open-source repository, official downloads, and contribution guidance. The repository is not publicly available yet.
